Opti Junior Full Day Programme 2021

  • This course is designed to introduce the sport of optimist sailing to young novices (aged 7 to 12) in a fun and engaging manner.
  • The goal is to build confidence through development of skills and awareness of the sailing environment.
  • Full day course (9:00am – 5:30pm) for 4 days.
  • Lunch will be provided.

  • Intake 2: June 21 – 24 – Fully Booked 
  • Intake 3: July 5 – 8 – Fully Booked
  • Intake 4: July 12 – 15 – Fully Booked 
  • Intake 5: November 27 – 30 – Fully Booked
  • Intake 6: December 6 – 9 – Fully Booked
  • Intake 7: December 13 – 16 – Fully Booked

Pre – Requisites● Min Age 7 years old to 12 years● Able to swim 50m with personal floatation device●

* Min 6 participants to start a class
Course fee: (Inclusive of course fees, equipment, testing & certification + 7% GST) Singaporean – $475.83PR / Foreigner – $ 570.95 *Training dates are subject to changes
Note: * Minimum of 5 pax signed up to start the course.
             * Maximum 5 pax per Coach as we need to follow the social distancing guidelines.

<<< Terms and Conditions for Basic Sailing Course: >>>

  • Prerequisite: Minimum 7 years old to start (after birth date).
  • Able to swim at least 50 m with a personal flotation device.
  • Singapore Sailing Federation reserves the right to cancel a session due to lack of participation (Minimum 5 to start the course).
  • No replacement classes will be provided for any missed sessions without a medical certificate.

2.00pm – 4.30pm : Rigging / Launching / simulation, Swim test, Beach drill (capsize, Tacking, Launching & recovery) and   try sailing with two marks in sailing reaching

4.50pm: Debrief

5.00pm: Dismiss

0915 am -10.00 am: Online briefing

Day 3 (Wednesday)

10.00 Report to NSC

10.15 am- 12.45pm: rigging & water activity (reaching course)

1.00pm: Lunch

2.00pm – 4.30pm:  Launching, and water activity (Reaching course,Follow the leader), play games on water, paddle, sculling

4.50 pm : Debriefing

5.00 pm : Dismiss

Day 4 (Thursday) 

10.00 am Report to NSC

10.30 am – 12.50 pm : launching water activity (follow leader, park alongside powerboat, sit at the bow, sail standing

1.00 pm : Lunch

2.00 pm – 4.20 pm : water activity reaching course, follow the leader, playing games, party

4.50 pm: Graduation (Stick to the same group)

5.00 pm: Dismiss

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: Do I need to know how to swim?
A: Yes, a swim test will be conducted in the open sea. You will be equipped with a personal flotation device (will be provided).

Q: What is the duration of classes?
A: Classes will run from 0930 – 1730.

Q: When will I receive information on the meeting time and place and any clothing I should prepare?
A: The above joining details will be provided about 1 week prior to the course commencement.

Q: Will lunch be provided?
A: Yes it will. Please let us know of any specific dietary requirements you might have through the booking form (E.g. Halal, Jain, Vegan etc)
