Team racing, also known as team sailing, is a popular form of dinghy racing. Just 2 teams compete in a race, each team sailing 2, 3, or 4 boats of the same class. The winning team is decided by combining the results of each team’s boats. This differs from a fleet race where boats compete individually.

This time around our Sailfast Camp will focus on Team Racing. Lead by our own Optimist Team Racing World Championship coach, Lt. Somkiat Poonpat as well as Developmental Squad coach, Nilju Chinakrit (Sommai), the camp will be split over two weekends. The first weekend will be focused on the strategy and rules of team racing. During the second weekend, the sailors will participate in the Team Racing competition under the guidance of Coach Somkiat and Coach Sommai.

Sailors will learn:

• Team Racing basic strategy and tactics
• Team Racing rules
• Advanced boat handling with focus on Team Racing
• Team Racing winning combination formula
• Team spirit

Sailfast schedule:

• Saturday Aug 31st 9am – 7pm
• Sunday Sep 1st 9am – 7pm
• Saturday Sep 7th 9am – 6pm
• Sunday Sep 8th 9am – 5pm

The camp fee includes participation fee for the Team Racing competition, a rashguard, lunch and snacks.

Sailors must be part of the Singapore Silver or Gold Fleet in order to participate.
