Optimist clinic for Coaches by Coaches. Conducted by Coach Somkiat (Optimist head coach) and Coach Sherman, they aim to bring coaches up to date about new class development and sailing technique in the International circuit. The Clinic is suitable for optimist coaches of all levels. Course fees is kindly sponsored by Singapore Sailing Federation and is limited to 30 coaches. Applicants may be required to submit additional supporting document.
(Update 12 March): After reviewing the workshop contents, we are agreeable to award 5 CCE hours to NROC coaches who attend this workshop. Please note that this will be the maximum number of hours awarded for a recognised 1-day CCE activity.
Pre-requisites:
– Must have coached optimist in the past 6 months.
– Min age 18
Terms & Condition:
SSF reserves the rights to reject participants who does not meet the prerequisites.
The Program will be as follow:
1000 Hrs —> Introduction of Clinic presenters and coaches in attendance
1015-1200 —> Sharing of sail setting and boat set up (basic and advanced)
1200-1210 —> Quick break
1210-1245 —> Sitting positions for open and closed angles and sail trim
1245-1345 —> Lunch break (Not Provided)
1345-1415 —> Boat handling (tacks, gybes, penalty)
1415-1500 —> On-water exercises (videos)
1500-1600 —> Tactics
1600-1615 —> Quick break
1615-1730 —> Sports Science for optimist sailors (fitness and nutrition)
1730-1800 —> Q&A
